The Health & Safety Sign Association

Originally founded in 1994 by leading safety sign manufacturers setting out to create an industry body which would function as a representative organisation, providing leadership and direction to the safety & statutory sign industry. Through a single authoritative voice it would influence the UK Government, the European Union, consumers and opinion-forming bodies alike.

Constitutional Aims of The Health & Safety Sign Association

  • To create greater safety through the proper use of safety and other statutory signs.

  • To develop and maintain standards within the industry and act as an industry voice to those formulating standards and legislation within Europe.

  • To protect the interests, so far as legally permissible, of the members.

  • To act as an arbitrator of disputes between members of the association.

  • To consider general questions affecting the interests of the association; to initiate and promote legislation with a view to obtaining any object of the association; to petition Parliament in favour of, or proposing to make changes in law or practice and appear in support of any such petition.

  • To do all such lawful things as are incidental to, or conductive to the objects mentioned above.

Activity Programme

British and International Standards Liaison:  The association will continue to support and participate in the development and revision of both British and International standards, specifically including:

Industry & Government Liaison:  The Health & Safety Sign Association will continue to fulfil its role as the lead Association for the Safety sign industry and will promote liaison meetings between members, as well as providng a unified voice to government.

Code of Practice

The association has a comprehensive and definitive, but above all 'user friendly' guide, to the use, application and maintenance of safety signs. The document provides information and guidance on the following issues.

The Benefits of Membership

Membership of the Health & Safety Sign Association will bring numerous and varied benefits to individual member companies including:

Membership Fees

Full corporate membership carrying the right to attend, update and vote at all general meetings based on a flat fee of £1000 per annum regardless of turnover. Subscriptions run from February to January. Companies wishing to join mid year will be granted membership until the following January and be charged on a pro rata basis. All membership fees will fall due for payment 30 days from the date of invoice and are not refundable.

How to Apply

To apply for membership of The Health & Safety Sign Association simply complete the Application Form

Acceptance

All applications will be considered by the executive committee who will advise of their decision. Acceptances will be followed by an invoice for the membership fee. Rejections will be advised and the decision of the executive committee will be final.

Confidentiality

The Health & Safety Sign Association acknowledges that the information provided is confidential, and will be used solely to enable the H.S.S.A to process your organisations' application. The H.S.S.A. will not disclose information contained in this document without permission.
